Experience
Shirlee Evans serves as Vice Chair of the Redmond Planning Commission, and was first appointed in 2002. In this important role, she reviews local land use decisions, modifies the City's Development Code to reflect today's needs as well as listens to public testimony.
She serves as liaison with the Downtown Urban Renewal Advisory Committee and listens closely to the concerns of the business community and fellow citizens to achieve a revitalized and historical downtown.
As spokesperson for her North Canal Neighborhood Group, Shirlee coordinates their efforts with the Historic Commission, ODOT and the City, to commemorate for the Centennial, the historic Frank Redmond homesite, and other projects.
Shirlee regularly testifies at City Council hearings. She values collaboration between government groups, city staff and Redmond citizens.
Shirlee served as Redmond's representative to Deschutes County Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee, and continues to represent these citizen interests in planning processes.
She served on the Parks Master Plan PAC (Public Advisory Committee) which resulted in our 2030 Parks Master Plan.
Working with the Deschutes County Planning Commission, citizens and consultants to tailor a specific design that serves Redmond's need for sustainable growth, Shirlee was active in planning efforts for the Northwest Area and the Highway Area developments, as well as the Urban Growth Area expansion in 2007.
Shirlee was selected to participate in "Leadership Redmond 2003." This intensive nine-month training session, sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce and Redmond Executive Association, resulted in her effective and valuable role in local government.
